Cheap Tyre’s Doesn't Have To Mean Low Quality

Ok, picture this. You have been waiting all week and finally tonight you are about to go on that first date with the girl of your dreams.

“Pick me up at 7pm” she says, “And don’t be late!”

With those words burning in your ears, you have found your best shirt, grabbed Dad’s razor, splashed on the Old Spice, winced in pain and jumped in the car all within record time.

Keeping to the speed limit (can’t afford to be pulled over can we?) you check yourself out in the mirror a few times, trying to get that one stubborn hair out of place flowing in the right direction, admiring your choice in shirt, though putting the numerous razor cuts out of mind and generally feeling pretty good about your time management.

Then it happens- “Whump whump, whump whump, whump whump”- you check the side view mirror and inexplicably the rear driver side tyre is flatter than Daniel Craig’s stomach.

As the Bard said, “The course of true love never did run smooth.” And your chance with that girl has gone up in a puff of smoke.

Good old William Shakespeare could just have easily been talking about poor quality car tyres.

It seems that we place no thought into making sure that our tyres are up to standard and only when we hear the crunching of metal on bitumen, do we consider making that call to Goodyear or Dunlop.

One of the reasons is that we think tyres are far too expensive.

Consider the cost though.

It’s a wet and miserable day and we have a mother on her way to taking the children to school. Sitting behind a SUV, Mum is keeping the children amused, when all of a sudden the SUV brakes suddenly as a child appears from nowhere on the road, causing Mum to take evasive action. Although Mum’s skills behind the wheel are first rate, the fact the tyres have been left unattended for quite some time doesn’t help.

In fact, just last week, Mum and Dad had discussed purchasing new tyres, but the fridge blew up two days ago and so that brought an end to thoughts about re-treading.

Back to the car scene- Mum does in fact avoid the child, but due to the condition of the slippery road and bald car tyres, she is seen fishtailing in the direction of a telegraph pole…

Cheap tyres doesn’t have to mean low quality and in fact most tyre dealers can offer a special deal if purchasing more than tyre at a time. The main point here is don’t compromise on safety.

The best solution is to shop around, make some comparisons and you may be quite surprised at what prices are available for a decent tyre.
